Introducing OpenLearning for Enterprise

Written by Erica Cheong | Oct 18, 2019 5:04:55 PM

This just in: We’ve launched OpenLearning for Enterprise.

What is it, and what does this mean for Malaysian corporations, SMEs, startups and NGOs?

OpenLearning for Enterprise is THE new workplace learning platform for corporate Malaysia.

It is the most powerful, adaptive and cost-effective learning and training platform in the market today. The platform is designed to be smart, self-driven, and simple-to-use—and is now available for Malaysian businesses to drive and implement workplace learning strategies.

Depending on your training, onboarding or upskilling needs, OpenLearning for Enterprise lets you run flexible and transformative online programs for employees, partners, or even the general public—anytime, anywhere. Simply put, it is a workplace LMS, and beyond.

Employees are an organisation’s biggest assets, so set your team up for success. Ensure that they are receiving the training they need, and more importantly, feel valued and engaged. We are certain that OpenLearning for Enterprise will benefit Malaysian companies who want to build skilled employees, exceptional leaders and future-proof businesses.

ADAM BRIMO, CEO, OPENLEARNING

Welcoming enterprise to the community

Here at OpenLearning, we’ve been focused on enabling higher education players to transform online education. While this is still at our core, we want to begin empowering Malaysian enterprises to do the same.

Since 2013, Malaysian education providers have used OpenLearning to deliver blended learning, paid short courses, and fully-online MBAs to both on-campus students and learners from around the world. To date, over 350,000 learners have enrolled in over 400 courses through Malaysia MOOC initiative.

Given this success, we see value in extending our offerings to the corporate sector—and we are starting with Malaysia.

Workplace training for the future of work

Knowledge is key in this complex, digital economy. At OpenLearning, we recognise that learning is lifelong and deeply personal. At the workplace, learning happens not only within seminar or training rooms—but more so from day-to-day tasks, and through interactions with each other. Hence, employee performance at work depends on receiving the right training, resources and support.

This presents a few challenges. Today, knowledge has a shorter shelf life. Developments in technology and automation mean that the skills required to stay relevant are constantly evolving, and the workforce needs to keep up. However, training employees across departments, schedules, and sometimes even timezones is costly, time-consuming and difficult to measure.

That’s why we’ve launched OpenLearning for Enterprise.

Personalised workplace learning at scale

Now, Malaysian HR, Learning and Design (L&D) and training practitioners can use the OpenLearning platform’s proven tools and capabilities to onboard, upskill and train—at scale, and with ease.

Our cloud-hosted solution allows you to run an unlimited number of online education and training programs. Our intuitive, user-friendly course authoring tools allow you to design and manage a curriculum that works best for your team.

With your own custom branded portal, you can focus on building courses and training programs under one domain. Need to onboard groups of new employees across different departments? No problem—create multiple enrolment classes for each batch. Need to train employees and partners on a newly launched product or service? Easy—use a single course to communicate it company wide.

Scaling Financial Education for Malaysians

Enterprises like AKPK have demonstrated the scalability that comes with an OpenLearning portal. With just 1 online financial literacy module, AKPK has educated over 25,000 first-time home buyers nationwide. This prompted AKPK to start running their internal training programs on OpenLearning, as well as launch a similar module in collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development for young couples.

Social learning for vibrant workforces

Fostering a vibrant team involves maintaining a strong collaborative working culture within your organisation. Employees should feel a sense of belonging, and share in the company's vision and values. Hence, it is more important than ever for onboarding and internal training programs to be well designed.

OpenLearning is built for designing socially constructive courses. L&D teams can align outcome-based activities with clear learning milestones. Make use of active learning tools such as share widgets in designing programs that encourage peer contribution and feedback. You can easily facilitate and mentor learners online, and use our learning analytics tools to track employee progress plus measure training outcomes.

It doesn’t stop there. With OpenLearning, you are able to motivate self-directed learners with built-in gamification elements such as kudos points, badges and certification—and zoom in on those that may need that extra nudge.

Your employees themselves can take charge of their learning journeys. Each learner can automatically track evidences of their learning with a personal OpenLearning Portfolio. This is a repository of learning artefacts that truly showcases their skills and capabilities.

What’s more?

HR teams are able to enhance the hiring process with online modules that will attract the right talent to your organisation. Design online programs to pre-qualify and recruit new staff, plus engage and retain current ones.

Onboarding The OpenLearning Way

At OpenLearning, every new team member gets access to the Team Portal to complete a series of onboarding programs in their first few weeks of joining. This gives them a complete overview of the company’s vision and values, introduces them to their teammates across our different offices and locations, and encourages them to start collaborating from the get go.

Generate revenue, reach and more

But, what does all this mean for SMEs and startups?

While smaller teams may not require, nor have the capacity to build and customise their own online training programs—OpenLearning provides opportunities for flexible, continuous professional development and employee upskilling. Employees can choose from an ever growing library of certified skills based courses like this Industry 4.0 one.

Have an innovation to sell? Design your own learning program for others, then feature it on the OpenLearning course marketplace. Monetise your expertise like this water safety module and this Malaysian sign language course.

Startups and SMEs can use their OpenLearning portal to increase brand awareness, build their network, reach new audiences and expand to new markets. Offer a free course or MOOC as part of your marketing strategy, nurture leads within your program, then convert them into customers.
