Shaping the digital future with the Tech Council of Australia

The Tech Council of Australia is on a mission to supercharge the growth of Australia's tech sector. Since the pandemic started, Australia's tech sector has created 65,000 new jobs, prompting the release of a roadmap to increase that number to 1 million jobs in tech by 2025.

These steps include:

  • Keep growing the pipeline of new Australian tech start-up companies, to contribute 30,000 new jobs and an extra $7 billion in value by 2030.
  • Scale-up more early stage Australian tech companies equating to 65,000 jobs and $14 billion in value.
  • Create more large homegrown tech companies and ensure Australia is an attractive market for investment from multinationals equalling 75,000 new jobs, and $16 billion in extra value.
  • Accelerate tech job creation and investment by businesses outside of the tech sector for 258,000 new jobs, and $45 billion in value.

OpenLearning is delighted to announce that we are now a member of the Tech Council of Australia. With 861,000 Australian tech workers currently contributing $167 billion per year to the Australian economy, the sector continues to offer many opportunities for growth.

Paralleled by the growing tech skills gap, OpenLearning aims to support the growth of the tech sector with the launch of a new Computer Science program, CS101.

This micro-credential course will bridge the digital skills gap for working professionals, bringing together leading tech companies (such as Canva, Microsoft, Alibaba Cloud and Chronosphere), industry experts, and educators to enable anyone to learn Computer Science and work in the digital economy.

We're proud to support the industry's goals of creating 60,000 new jobs per year and contributing $250 billion to the economy by 2030.

Let's shape Australia's digital future, together.
